hi, is there coming more over the stream than the music itself? I´m using quicktime and i´m missing those song infos like titelname and interpret like iTunes is doing.

I have been listening to Acoustic Alternative for years, daily. I have a Logitech internet radio in my office and I use the Shoutcast app on Roku with home theater. To avoid the increased commericals on the free stream, I am considering a subscription. I need to confirm I can access the paid/commerical-free/HD stream from both the Logitech radio and Shoutcast Roku app. I hope this is possible, I don’t want to ditch this station, but I can’t tolerate a lot of commercials. It is Sat, May 5th and I am hearing more commericals than ever today. Moving my dial to Pandora today…..Please don’t wreck this station!

I am very glad you brought that up. First off, I have been running Acoustic Alternative from the very beginning and I assure you I have no intentions of running it in the ground.
Secondly, there are no more commercials in the stream than there have been for the past 2 years, we just changed them around a little.
A couple of years ago we were forced by the licensing entities to become legal or face hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. Our choices were, pay royalties or shut the station down. My complete love for Acoustic Alternative told me to keep the station alive. I spent thousands of dollars making us legal and asked many, many times for listeners to support us through donations. That obviously wasn’t going to happen because we received very little listener support which forced us to make the decision to run commercials to help pay the bills. We spend and spend and spend to make this station happen. It has dipped into my retirement so deeply, I almost sold the station last year. Again, my love for Acoustic Alternative led me to a second job and I continue to pay the bills with very little help. The new commercials pay much better than the old ones and hopefully the new revenue stream will help offset the bills.
That being said, I assure you Acoustic Alternative HD is commercial free and works with all players and you will be able to listen on Roku and your system at work. :)
If you don’t mind I am going to post your question and my answer to you on the new forums for everyone to see. I think what you ask is very reasonable, just as I think my answer to you needs to be read by everyone.
As far as your choice to move to Pandora, I certainly can’t stop you from doing that. We do really appreciate you being so loyal for so long and for thank I must say, Thank You Very Much.

First, thank you for the reply, I did not expect such a sincere reply from “the top dog”. I appreciate your time and response. Feel free to post it to where you like. I live in Prescott Valley, AZ if you want to include that info. I have been hooked on Acustic Alternative from the first “click” on shoutcast. I remember the changes you mention regarding licensing…this helps the artists we love, so the change is necessary! Thanks for sharing your personal sacrifice to keep this station going, I appreciate all your time & effort, people need to know what you have done. I plan to subscribe to 1 year. Regarding Pandora (or my MP3s on DLNA), it is my fall back, when I need a hit from something “plugged in” like the Pixies……I get my fix, then always return to Acoustic Alternative!
